The short version: we collect what you type into our two forms, plus your name and email address from Google when you sign in. We use it to run the club. We never sell it, never share it outside the council, and we delete it whenever you ask.
Who we are
The Tech & Skills Council ("the council", "we") is a student-run club for students on an active university pathway programme at Anurag University, Chitkara University, Rajalakshmi Engineering College and Shiv Nadar University. We are the people responsible for the information described here. You can reach us at techskillscouncil@gmail.com.
What we collect
When you sign in with Google
We ask Google only for your name, email address and the fact that you are signed in. We do not request, and cannot see, your Google password, your contacts, your files, your calendar, or anything else in your Google account. We do not post anything anywhere on your behalf.
We use sign-in for one reason: so that the email address on a registration is one you actually control, rather than one somebody typed in.
When you register for an event
- Your name and email address
- Your university, year of study, and branch or major
- Whether you are a Dual Degree Student
- Your self-described experience level, if you choose to give it
- How you heard about us, and what you would like to build or learn, both optional
- That you ticked the consent box
When you apply for a council seat
Everything above, plus your phone number if you give one, the team and role you are applying for, how many hours a week you can give, your written answers, and any portfolio or LinkedIn links you choose to share.
Automatically
To stop automated abuse of our forms, our server keeps a one-way cryptographic hash of the IP address a submission came from, together with a timestamp. A hash cannot be reversed back into an IP address. These records are deleted automatically after 24 hours and are never linked to your registration. We do not use analytics, advertising trackers, or cookies for tracking.
Why we collect it
- To run events, to send you the joining link and know who is expected
- To organise sessions properly, so a beginners' track is pitched for beginners
- To assess council applications, the board reads written answers before deciding
- To confirm eligibility, membership is open to students on the pathway
- To keep the forms usable, the hashed IP records exist solely to rate-limit abuse
We do not use your information for anything else, and we do not build a profile of you.
Who can see it
Submissions are readable only by the council board members who need them. They are not shared with anyone outside the council, not with recruiters, not with other students, and not with any partner university, without your explicit permission.
Three service providers process data on our behalf, because we run on their infrastructure:
- Supabase, stores the database and handles Google sign-in
- Cloudflare Turnstile, checks that a submission comes from a person rather than a script
- GitHub Pages, serves this website
We never sell your information, and we do not share it for advertising.
How it is protected
The website cannot write to our database at all. Every submission goes through a single server-side function that re-checks it, and the database refuses all access from the browser by design. The key that can write to the database never leaves the server. Everything travels over HTTPS.
We are a student club and we do not pretend to run bank-grade security. What we can honestly say is that we have kept the number of places your data can be reached from as small as we know how to make it.
How long we keep it
- Event registrations, kept for the current academic year, then deleted
- Council applications, kept for the recruitment cycle they belong to, then deleted, unless you join the council
- Abuse-prevention records, deleted automatically after 24 hours
Your choices
Email techskillscouncil@gmail.com from the address you registered with and ask us to:
- Show you everything we hold about you
- Correct anything that is wrong
- Delete your record entirely
We will do it, and we will not ask you to justify the request. Deleting your record means you come off the list for events you have registered for, so tell us if you would rather we just removed you from a mailing list instead.
You can also disconnect the club from your Google account at any time, at your Google account permissions page. That stops future sign-ins; it does not delete a registration you have already made, so email us as well if that is what you want.
Students under 18
The club is for university students. If you are under 18 and have registered, ask a parent or guardian to email us and we will remove your record.
Changes
If we change how any of this works, we will update this page and change the date below. If the change is significant, we will email people whose information is affected rather than quietly editing the page.
